For this weeks assignment I learned about generative art. I used a website called scribbler too to create my project. I used a reference picture from one the most popular anime shows called Naruto. I already had the photo on my computer because it is one of the many rotating screensavers I have for my laptop. This assignment was a bit more challening than I expected it to be. It took me a little bit of time to figure exactly what was going on with the brush and color settings within the program. For this first drawing I used the same size brush radius and kept all of the settings except the color the same. It was hard to use the mouse and keep the lines as straight as possible without some type of tool to help do so. I drew a masked warrior from the Hidden Leaf Village. I am overall satified with the outcome of this part of the weeks assignemt and enjoyed being able to see the results of hard work I put in.
I had to create two separate drawings in the scribbler too website for this week. The second drawing was aimed to create some type of volume as opposed to it being a simple creation like first. In this drawing I used another picture from the famous anime series Naruto. This a picture of Older brother Itachi and his younger brother Sauske. In the show they are malicious rivals and Sauske devotes his entire life to one killing is older brother. In this scene Sauske sees his older brother for the first time since he was last seen slaying their entire village and family included. Sauske attempts to challenge his older brother are unsuccessful as he is seen being choked up against a wall in deep agony. I added shadows to this artwork to try to show the depth of the scene. I added a shadow near the top of Sauske's neck where his brothers hand is gripping his throat. I also added shadows around both of their coats. This image took much longer to recreate than the first but I am overly satisfied with the outcome and I found joy in seeing the turnout of the long time it took to complete. I spent a lot more time messing around with the brush settings for this picture. I change the density, radius, and all the other settings within the system back and forth to create a good sense of depth and volume to the picture.
For the last part of this weeks assignment we used another generative artwork program called Flame. This program was very fun and easy to use. The objective of this project was to depict a certain emotion. I tried to depict frustration and confusion. Before I could start the project I had to download an adobe flash player. It was pretty simple to do but took a pretty long time to figure because I was not reading the instruction through thoroughly. In the artwork I used a bunch of random colors with no structure. This was similar to the actions I was doing while trying to download the adobe flash without reading the directions. Flame is great program and it very fun and interesting to use. I am decently satisfied with the outcome but when I look at the work I just do not see any type of emotion. I struggle with using actual words to explain my emotions so image how difficult it was for me to do so using art.
